From a distance, the boards look the same. But up close, it’s a whole other story.

Boosted kept the overall design from their flagship 1st generation board, and made it even better. They fixed the small imperfections and added new functionality to make it a smoother, safer, and overall more durable ride.

The new board now has upgraded trucks, wheels, motors, deck, bluetooth, and a removable battery.

Bigger Wheels, Upgraded Motors & Trucks

The denser core 80mm Orangatang Kegel wheels helps cut down vibration while rolling at high speed or rough pavement.

The combination of the bigger wheels and trucks makes a more responsive ride and handles better even when carving even at high speeds. The new Boosted Board has 80mm Orangatang Kegel Wheels — a 5mm difference from the 1st generation but an improvement you can definitely feel in the board. On a boosted board, you can’t simply upgrade the wheels to put any size you want — the rear wheels have custom drive gears built-in.

The v2 has newly designed motors that give off better torque, and slightly higher top speed. There is a noticeable and nice uptick in the acceleration and slight increase in the top end.

The motors now have skid plates made out of plastic that can also be replaced. Unlike the v1, which were made out metal, got scratched easily and couldn’t be replaced. Though, the new design of the skid plates makes the v2 appear to have less clearance than the v1. This could be an issue, but since they are replaceable you can worry less about scratches.

Removable Battery, Long Range Options

The battery on the Boosted 2 is now removable, so you can swap and upgrade

One of the most important changes is the ability to remove the battery. Our Dual+ model has a standard battery giving you 7 mile range, while an extended battery with 14 mile range will be available in 2017. Another new feature to the battery is indicator lights for the battery charge level right on the battery.

Unfortunately the removable battery is not a quick swap. You do have to remove 6 screws and unplug the unit to remove it. If you were hoping to swap out the battery while on the go, we think this $20 electric screwdriver on Amazon is a must have if you plan on switching out the battery!

Water Resistant for Puddles & Rain

The v2 is now water resistant, which means you can ride over puddles or in the rain — and Boosted confirmed that includes the inside of the charging port as well. Speaking of the charging port, we did notice one imperfection right away that other owners have confirmed as well — the cover flap for the battery pops out while riding.

The remote also kept the same design, but hasupgraded internals.

The v2 also features an upgraded remote. The bluetooth power has been cranked up to help avoid connection interference, which was a problem in cities with the v1. The remote also changes through riding modes faster.

Another big difference in the accessory port hidden under the trucks. This is a custom designed port by Boosted — they plan on selling Boosted Board accessories, giving you the option to plug in headlights, taillights, and other charging options.

Price Comparison

The new Boosted Board starts at $999, and goes up to $1,499 for the Dual+ which is the fastest board available.

If you’re interested in buying a boosted board and trying to save money, you can check on eBay where you’ll find used v1 boards and maybe even a good deal on a used v2 board.

If it’s out of your budget, or if you’re on the fence about riding a longboard — you should consider buying a regular longboard to start. You can find a complete setup for less than $100 on Amazon

There are also competing products out there, similar Electric skateboards and longboards that start at $299 on Amazon.
